My art is my outlet. It comes from loss, from choices made, from love gained, or love lost, from my life circumstances, or from the life circumstances of those around me and close to me. It is how I cope. It is how I move on. It is how I speak, when I cannot find the words. I am sensitive and intuitive—I dream things, I see things, I feel things—and in my work, I like to tell a story. I provide a looking glass for the viewer to step into my vision, my world; all that I see, all that I feel at a given moment in time. It’s capturing a specific minute, evoking a feeling, seeing a soul. It is the things, circumstances, or situations in which one finds themselves coming apart at the seams. In all of my work, both the feeling of coming undone, as well as my strong spirituality, remains at the root.
I first discovered my love for photography in 1996 while enlisted as a military photographer. While in the Navy, I was trained in all facets of the art including, but not limited to: Portraiture, Sports, Landscape, Studio and News photography. After 2 years of active duty service, the military sent me to design school. Thus, the universe brought to me my career path. After completion of my 5 year service, I returned to New York where I continued my education in design and made my way as a freelance designer and photographer. I would remain in the Navy reserves for an additional 7 years.
I have won numerous local and national marketing awards for my photography and have been featured in galleries and museums both nationally and internationally. In 2008, my work was awarded the Bronze Certificate of Excellence in the BOLI Awards Competition, a nationally recognized advertising and marketing awards program. In 2009, I won the Gold and Silver Certificates, and received two marketing awards from the Association of Accounting Marketers. In 2010 my artwork was featured in the FotoFoto Gallery’s National Competition and in 2012 my artwork was chosen by The Heckscher Museum of Art for the Long Island Biennial, a four-month exhibition showcasing Long Island Artists. In 2015, one of my pieces won first place in the Nassau County Legislature's Woman Of The World - Think Big! 2015 juried show. Additionally three of my pieces, were chosen to hang at Palazzo dei Consoli in Gubbio, Italy for a three-month exhibition.
I am currently a member of: The Art League of Long Island, Northport Arts Coalition, National Association of Photoshop Professionals and The Heckscher Museum of Art.
